David George is a self-taught artist, preferring to paint from life. David finds that painting a portrait to tight timescales, or a landscape with the light rapidly changing, spurs him on to do his best work.

 

David George

David is an award-winning portrait and landscape artist based in Shropshire and North Wales, specialising in oils and watercolours.

David aims to produce a strong, vigorous, yet subtle portrait which not only captures the character of the sitter but also creates an interesting painting through sound draughtsmanship, accurate tonal arrangements and lively brushwork.

His landscapes are painted mainly on the spot in the plein-air tradition, and he aims for a loose, impressionistic style  – mood rather than detail.

David is regularly invited to teach at workshops and provide demonstrations, where he enjoys sharing his skills, techniques and knowledge.
